Development of Yakushima version of SDGs board game

Development of Yakushima version of SDGs board game

In collaboration with the Yakushima Town Board of Education, local nonprofit organizations, and Sunaba Corporation, we created a Yakushima version of an SDGs board game with approximately 650 elementary, junior high, and high school students in Yakushima Town, Kagoshima Prefecture. The game is designed so that students can experience how building a recycling-oriented society and using limited resources effectively are essential for enriching and sustaining their own lives, as well as to foster coexistence with nature not merely as a slogan, but as a culture that takes root in the island of Yakushima. We will continue to support the creation of businesses in Yakushima over the medium to long term in areas such as educational tourism centered on education and learning, as well as the promotion of migration through workcations.

Participation in Tokyo's first Park-PFI project, Meiji Metropolitan Park

Participation in Tokyo's first Park-PFI project, Meiji Metropolitan Park

AX-ON participated in a consortium to develop, manage, and operate Meiji Metropolitan Park in Tokyo, utilizing the publicly solicited park management system Park-PFI in accordance with the Urban Park Act. TOKYO LEGACY PARKs is a project whose concept is to create a legacy that will be passed on to the next generation, driven by five basic principles: diversity and inclusiveness, greenery and the environment, sustainable relationship with the local community, ethical thinking, and mental and physical health and happiness.
Through this project, we took on the challenge of creating a sustainable real forest that will last 100 years by establishing continuity with the valuable green network in the city center, such as the Japan National Stadium and the Meiji Jingu Gaien area, and by creating a water landscape that is reminiscent of the former Shibuya River. We will develop and operate a plaza space where diverse people, values, and cultures can interact and become a new hub of liveliness and community.

Conversion to art set materials with less environmental impact

Conversion to art set materials with less environmental impact

For more than 60 years, it has been common practice to use lauan plywood as the base material for the walls of art sets, but since lauan plywood is made from south-sea wood, it is not ideal from the perspective of future environmental protection and it is expected to become difficult to obtain. Accordingly, driven by the concept of "post-lauan plywood," Nippon Television Art is working to switch to a material with less environmental impact as an alternative. Currently, we have come up with "hardboard," or wood fiberboard, as one of the most promising options. By exhibiting its uses at Ikuta Studio, we have exchanged opinions with art department and production staff for dramas and verified the compliance of the material with the Fire Service Act. At the moment, we are creating sets using the prototype panels for three drama series in the April season, and are also researching how to overcome challenges and make them durable over the medium term.

Environmentally-friendly ways to clean and recycle paper resources

Environmentally-friendly ways to clean and recycle paper resources

We started using detergents certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that meet strict standards for effectiveness, stability, safety, and other criteria for cleaning within Nippon Television. EPA-certified detergents are used on toilets, glass, floors, desktops, and various other areas, ensuring environmentally-friendly cleaning operations.
In addition, restrooms use toilet paper made through recycling paper collected within Nippon Television. Most of the toilet paper provided is coreless, thereby helping in the conservation of the resources needed to produce the core. We will continue to contribute to the creation of a sustainable recycling society and work towards the reduction of waste.

Support for children's food

Support for children's food

In this new initiative that started in 2022, we conduct activities to support children's food in hopes of solving child poverty and preventing food loss. Food and other items stockpiled for disasters are donated monthly to Minato Kodomo Shokudo (Minato Children's Cafeteria), which provides support for children in need. Through these activities, we hope to contribute to the prevention of food loss and the growth of children in Minato Ward, our hometown.
