Nippon TV Health & Productivity Management(Nippon Television Network Corporation)
Aim of Our Health & Productivity Management
Believing that the health of Nippon TV employees is of the utmost importance for the company, we will proactively take initiatives to enhance health and health awareness as stated in our Sustainability Policy.
We believe increased health and health awareness are keys to realizing one of our 6 Material Issues, "Create a Healthy and Creative Workplace," where employees thrive and feel their jobs are meaningful. This, in turn, boosts labor productivity, financial performance, and corporate value.
Moreover, as a company that provides enriching moments to consumers from all walks of life, we at Nippon TV will disseminate information through our content to help find solutions to the health challenges society faces as a whole.
Framework
One Human Resource Manager (HRM) is appointed to each division to look after every employee from a different perspective than that of the department heads. Through meetings and day-to-day conversations with employees, HRMs ensure that interpersonal relationship issues and mental and physical illnesses do not get overlooked.
Health & Productivity Management Indicators and Goals
Initiatives to Maintain and Promote Employee Health
Health Promotion Event
In fiscal year 2023, we held one-off events like Morning Yoga and Good Sleep Seminar. Additionally, we set an Autumn Health Promotion Period for October and November during which an Intra-company Walking Battle was held, featuring events tied to a Body Composition Measurement Session and a Healthy Eating Week. From January to March, we collaborated with group company TIPNESS for the Winter Health Promotion Project, offering personal training sessions with trainers and lessons that vary by week such as yoga and stretching.
Body Composition Measurement Sessions
We hold periodic body composition measurement sessions together with TIPNESS, a group company. In addition to weight and body fat percentage, we also check muscle mass, body shape, left-right balance, athletic standard index, and other metrics that cannot be measured on a standard scale. One can learn about the state of one’s body and receive advice from specialists according to the results. We encourage not only our employees but also our business partners to participate in this initiative in order to raise their health awareness.
Health Cafeteria 70
The cafeterias frequented by employees and staff members who work in the offices have been dubbed Health Cafeteria 70. They are Food Information Dissemination Centers that seek to raise health awareness by regularly delivering pertinent information. By expanding the wellbeing menu with power salads and the like, the cafeterias have become healthier and more user-friendly.
Exercise Promotion Program
As a collaborative initiative with the Nippon Television Health Insurance Society, we are providing subsidies to join the TIPNESS short-term exercise program. In Body Change, specialized trainers offer support with a two-pronged approach—exercise and diet. Whether it be for getting in shape or bodybuilding, customized plans are created for individuals in Order Made Personal. Joining the lineup of courses in fiscal year 2024 is Muscle Building Personal to boost strength to create a body that does not succumb to lack of exercise and aging. Dependents may also avail of these courses, which 72 people utilized in fiscal year 2023.

Health-related Trainings
Trainings are offered for all employees, with Know Yourself being the theme for fiscal year 2022 and Fix Your Lifestyle Rhythm for fiscal year 2023. Various other trainings are provided, such as for mental health, ailments specific to women, and selecting medical examination options that suit the individual. By disseminating information that promotes health, we support the development of our employees’ health literacy.
Employee Health Support
Occupational physicians and healthcare providers are regularly on hand to support the mental and physical health of employees on a daily basis. They provide aftercare based on medical checkup results, mental health counseling, and consultations for those working long hours.
In addition to regular health checkups, we also provide opportunities for employees to undergo fecal occult blood tests and ultrasound examinations as part of cancer screenings. For women, our health insurance society has a program that provides subsidies for gynecological examinations.
Infection Prevention
Every fall, we work together with our health insurance society to vaccinate the people who work in the company against influenza, free of charge.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, occupational physicians and healthcare providers gave instructions on infection prevention measures, provided health exams, and assisted patients in their recovery. Even after COVID-19 was reclassified as a Class 5 infectious disease, they informed employees of basic infection prevention measures and continue to support the creation of a safe working environment.
Initiatives to Improve Work-Life Balance
Campaign to Take Paid Leave
To encourage employees to use vacation days to maintain their health and refresh themselves, we identify recommended days to take paid leave. In fiscal year 2024, the dates are weekdays during Golden Week and the year-end and New Year holidays to make it easier for employees to take consecutive days off.
We are also working to create an environment that makes it easier for employees to take leave by rescheduling regular meetings.
Refresh Day
In addition to the recommended paid vacation days, we designate refresh days during the Obon Holiday period and on certain days like Fridays to make it easier to take consecutive days off.
Initiatives to Create a Healthy and Creative Workplace
Engagement Survey
We conduct monthly surveys of all employees regarding health, interpersonal relationships, and job duties. Engagement of the company as a whole and of each department is converted into scores and assessed against a fixed benchmark. The purpose is to improve the organization in order to create a rewarding workplace.
Meal Support
The Nippon TV Tower boasts a cafeteria for employees on the 17th floor and a café restaurant on the 16th floor.
The cafeteria offers a menu of balanced meals that change every day. It is located in an area within the headquarters that enables people to eat while enjoying the great view of Tokyo Tower, high-rise buildings, and Mt. Fuji in the distance.
The café restaurant offers pasta dishes that vary by day, as well as an array of drinks. It also has a bona fide oven to bake original breads that are quite a hit among customers.
There is also a cafeteria at the Ikuta Studio used mainly by drama production staff.
Health Clinic
The health clinic (medical and dental) is located on the 18th floor of the Nippon TV Tower. It provides internal medicine and otolaryngology examinations and treatments, health examinations, and dental checkups and treatments, enabling employees to receive early treatment.
Contributing to the Health of Society
Karada Week
Karada Week (Health Week) is a campaign that was launched in 2015 with the aim of creating an exuberant and healthy Japan. Every fall, various Nippon TV shows inspire people to live healthy lifestyles. We contribute to the health improvement and maintenance of consumers and society as a whole by disseminating information through health-related shows and viewer-interactive initiatives that are highly popular.
